Raising wild birds with-
out the proper licensing is against the law.
(International Migratory Bird Act)
Call Wildlife Centers or the Washington State Department of Wildlife for assistance once you have rescued a bird. If you are in or near a city, you may be able to obtain help from city animal control officers. Seabirds can suffer from diseases communicable to humans (though this is rare) so handle birds as little as possible, and be sure to wash hands with soap and water. Seabirds may have parasites that crawl on you -- don't worry too much, the parasites prefer birds as they find humans too cold for comfort!
